Salary
- $38,670 to $58,006 per year
- Experienced law enforcement officers may start within the range
Requirements
- U.S. Citizen
- At least 21 years old
- High School graduation or GED (General Education Diploma)
- Possession of or ability to obtain a valid driver's license by time of hire
- No record of felony convictions. Misdemeanor convictions will also be reviewed.
- Missouri Peace Officer Standards Training (POST) certified
Application Process
Satisfactorily complete the following pre-employment tests:
- Written Examinations
- Oral Board
- Background Investigation
- Medical Exam / Urinalysis Drug Screen
- Psychological Exam
- CVSA (Computer Voice Stress Analysis)
Current Benefits
- Starting Salary: $38,171 (Minimum)
- Uniform and Equipment: All uniforms and equipment are furnished, with the exception of footwear. Uniforms are professionally dry cleaned at no expense to the employee.
- Personal Car Program: In 1978, the department started the Personal Car Program. Officers residing within city limits have been issued a vehicle upon completion of the FTO (Field Training Officer) program.
- Insurance: City of Harrisonville employees are covered by major medical, hospitalization, dental, and life insurance. The city offers several different insurance options. Participation begins one month from the date of employment.
- Retirement: The City of Harrisonville is a member of the Missouri Local Government Employee Retirement System (LAGERS).
- Deferred Compensation: Employees may enroll in a deferred compensation program (457) which shelters a portion of the employee's annual salary from taxes.
- Vacation / Holidays: Employees shall be entitled to 84 regular working hours of annual leave per year. Employees are also given 11 holidays per year.
- Sick Leave: Employees may accrue 12 days of sick leave for each year of service. Unused sick leave shall be cumulative up to a maximum of 84 days.
