MAINTENANCE WORKER - WATER/SEWER DEPARTMENT

The City of Harrisonville is accepting applications for the full-time Water/Sewer Maintenance worker for the Combined Water and Sanitary Sewer (CWSS) Department.  

Responsibilities include repairing water main and sewer line breaks; replacing and relocating water service lines; reading, installing, and relocating meters; locating and identifying water and sewer lines; cleaning sewer lines; flushing mains; valve maintenance; and performing other duties, as required. A high school diploma or GED is required. 

Applicants must have mechanical aptitude and hold valid Missouri state driver’s license. Must be able to obtain a Missouri Class B CDL license within 12 months from date of hire. Must be capable of being able to interpret maps, drawings and calculate static water pressure. Ability to operate backhoe, skid loader, high pressure sewage cleaning truck, jack hammer, mowers, air compressor, water and sewer tapping machines and use a wide variety of hand tools.  Must be able to respond to emergency call out and relocate to within 30-minute drive time to the CWSS Warehouse. 

Work is generally performed outdoors in all types of weather.  Previous experience as a mechanic or water and sewer main construction is a plus.

STREET MAINTENANCE WORKER

The City of Harrisonville, Missouri is accepting applications for a full-time Streets Maintenance Worker. 

Applicants must have or be eligible to acquire a class B CDL with air brakes endorsement, heavy lifting, outdoor work, and successfully pass a pre-employment drug test. Must have a high school diploma or GED.  Must be able to perform bending and reaching to both ground level and overhead; lifts, carries, pushes and pulls up to 80 pounds; must be able to hold and grip objects. Will be subject to on-call and on occasion must work long hours and overtime during holidays, emergencies, and weekends. 

Work is primarily outdoors and will be exposed to extreme weather conditions. 

A successful candidate will be required to relocate to within 30-minute drive time to the Street Department Warehouse. 

Pay range is between $15.43 to $19.29 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications. The City offers excellent benefits.

COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER (DISPATCH)

The Harrisonville Police Department is now accepting applications for a full-time Communications Officer (Dispatch).

Applicants must be 18 years of age and possess a high school diploma or GED. Applicants will be required to undergo a CVSA examination, extensive background investigation, oral review board, and post offer pre-employment drug screen. 

This position requires the ability to handle multiple duties at once, while also responding to interruptions. Must be able to simultaneously hear and understand phone and radio traffic via headset or external speakers. Must be able to make quick and accurate decisions based on policy and protocol. Must be able to think outside the box when presented with a unique situation. This position requires the ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality regarding sensitive information. Must be able to maintain composure and control of self and voice under high pressure situations. Must be able to arrive to work on time and stay for the duration of your shift, or until your relief arrives. Must be able to work all shifts to include swing shifts, overnights, holidays, and weekends. Additionally, this position requires you to be subject to mandatory overtime. Must be able to work with background noise and frequent interruptions. Desirable qualifications to work in a 9-1-1 dispatch center are typing, telephone skills, and verbal/written communication skills. 

Applicants must be willing to work 12-hour shifts, day shift, night shifts, midshift and holidays. Upon hire, applicants will also be required to pass MULES, NCIC, and Medical Priority Dispatch training for Police, Fire, and Ambulance.

IT SECURITY SPECIALIST/NETWORK ADMINISTRATOR

The City of Harrisonville, MO is accepting resumes for this regular full-time technical position. The individual will be responsible for assisting the IT Department with maintenance of computer, network, and other technology systems as well as supporting end user hardware and software needs. IT Security will be a primary function of the position. 

    Knowledge of NIST framework and policy development to comply with security standards.

    Strong networking and firewall background

    Ability to prioritize tasks and effectively utilize time to maximize impact of efforts on overall IT infrastructure. 

    Ability to effectively communicate technical information to non-technical users. 

    Knowledge of Windows pc and server environment and software, TCP/IP connectivity, and an understanding of client server applications. 

    Requires a high level of skill with computer systems and their use as well as a willingness to learn new applications and services rapidly. 

    Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 

    Minimum 4 years work experience in an IT role focusing on hardware and software support in a multi-user network environment and 2 years work experience focusing on IT security. 

Full Time Exempt position plus benefits. Pay based on experience. Starting salary range from $61,016 to $74,880.

ACCOUNTING CLERK/CUSTOMER SERVICE

The City of Harrisonville is seeking applications for a regular full-time accounting clerk at a starting salary range of $13.88 to $15.00 per hour depending on qualifications.

FIREFIGHTER/PARAMEDIC

POSITION SUMMARY: Harrisonville, Missouri is a 4th class city located 30 miles south of Kansas City, Missouri with a population of approximately 10,000. Harrisonville Emergency Services is a department with up to date equipment with state of the art EMS equipment. Currently employee’s 21 full time personnel including command staff that performs the challenging work of emergency medical care, fire suppression, fire prevention and rescue. The fire department operates a 24 hour Modified Berkley Schedule. The department operates one ALS engine, and two fully staffed ALS ambulances from one station.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Responds to emergency situations and incident to suppress fires, affect rescues/extrications, participated in searches, mitigate hazardous materials and perform other duties as assigned and capable.

• Operate firefighting tools, aerial equipment, emergency medical equipment, extrication and rescue equipment and a variety of related tools and vehicles.

• Provide basic and advanced life support and emergency medical care.

• Participates in on-going technical and physical training to maintain certifications.

• Cleans and performs routine maintenance and minor repairs to department facilities.

• Participates in fire prevention and safety education/promotional events. Conducts station tours and gives presentations and demonstrates the use of the fire suppression and safety equipment.

• Assists in documenting incident and provides incident information to appropriate agencies and supervisor.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: The city will send selected individuals to Firefighter I & II Training if necessary.

Required Qualifications:

•Possession of a valid state driver’s license

•High school diploma or equivalent.

•Paramedic Certification

Preferred Qualifications:

• Vocational/technical training in firefighting and emergency medical treatment with two years of firefighting and paramedic experience or any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities.

• Possession of EMT-P certification, Firefighter I & II, hazardous materials operation, advanced life support, and basic life support certifications (ACLS, PALS, BTLS, CPR-Health Care Provider).
